Sir Abiye Iyalla Pedro is the Chairman of the 2024/2025 Board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Port Harcourt Section. He is an Assistant Manager of Project Construction at Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited. Sir Pedro's career began as a drilling engineer with Nigeria Agip Oil Company, where he contributed to the design and construction of HPHT, deviated, extended reach, and ultra-deep wells in the Niger Delta Basin, working in both land and swamp environments. He is also recognized for his expertise in project construction and energy economics. He holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, a Master's in Oil & Gas Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, and a Master's in Economic Management & Policy from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Sir Pedro is a COREN-certified engineer. Fluent in Kalabari-Ijaw and English, he also has a working knowledge of Italian. He is married with two children.
